Cyber GC

Body

Cyber GC is a cyber security specialist law firm providing legal services and consulting advice tailored to the cyber security needs of in-house legal, business, boards and governments.

Principal and Founder Annie Haggar is a born and bred Canberran. She completed her university degree at ANU, and worked in her first technology legal jobs for specialist firms here in Canberra. Her interests and specialisations took her to Melbourne, Sydney and London, but she decided there was no better place than Canberra to grow a family and a business in cyber security. She has provided legal support to one of the world's largest technology and security companies for over a decade, before seeing the need for a homegrown law firm dedicated to cyber security legal services.

Cyber security expertise and capability

Cyber GC offers cyber security specialist legal services to businesses of all sizes who need to understand the legal risks of cyber security breaches, and need help in protecting their businesses. We work with cyber security technical experts to plan, prepare, respond and recover from a cyber attack.

This includes:

  • Advice to boards and executives on the legal risks and considerations.
  • Tailored to your business, industry and regulatory environment
  • Support writing and reviewing your business's Incident Response Plan to ensure it includes the legal elements essential to a strong (and legally compliant) response to a breach.
  • Support writing, or amending, contracts, policies and plans to better protect your business from cyber security risks.
  • Support reviewing cyber security agreements - so you understand what cyber security services and products you are buying to get the most from the investment you are making.
  • Training of your business or existing legal teams on cyber security legal issues.

Career opportunities and career pathways

Cyber GC are looking for experienced cyber security lawyers who would like to work for an agile, flexible and high-performing firm to join our team. They are also interested in junior lawyers interested in cyber security and would like to upskill - our principal has trained thousands of lawyers in cyber security, and is passionate about training and developing young lawyers. We are also interested in partnering with cyber security technical professionals - you have the technical skills we lack to implement the technology and processes required to manage the legal risks. We can work hand in hand to support Australian businesses.

"Annie brings enormous value to our business and we’re very proud to have her on our team. Some of these achievements are not the typical financial measures but more the human ones that make Annie a very worthy candidate to be recognized for this award." - Joseph Failla, Former Accenture Security ANZ Lead.
