About the event
A practical, interactive workshop delivered by the Canberra Cyber Hub and designed for career transitioners.
Career Garage is a practical, interactive workshop delivered by the Canberra Cyber Hub and designed for career transitioners who are serious about stepping into the cyber workforce. Unlike a panel session or talk‑fest, this workshop puts participants in the driver’s seat, giving them structured, hands‑on activities to uncover how their current skills map directly to real cyber roles.
Across the session, attendees will work through guided exercises to identify their transferable strengths, diagnose skill gaps and develop a personalised plan for building capability. Participants will walk away with tangible tools such as skill‑mapping templates, role‑alignment guides and clear recommendations for training and certification pathways suited to their background and goals. The workshop also helps participants sharpen their personal value proposition, giving them the confidence to articulate what they bring to a cyber team.
Career Garage boosts participants’ understanding of the breadth of cyber careers while strengthening alignment between industry expectations, education providers and those entering the workforce. It is designed to increase readiness for cyber study options and help transitioners take meaningful, informed steps towards their next career. Held after the Canberra Cyber Hub’s Career Symposium and positioned as a precursor to the Cyber Pivot Accelerator, Career Garage acts as a critical bridge. Participants leave with clarity, direction and actionable next steps, setting them up to enter the Accelerator with purpose and momentum.
