What are the benefits of participating?

  • Employees ready to work with you – Co-designed with employers to better bridge the gap between tertiary education and the skills employers have told us they need in the workplace. We will help you select an intern based on your business needs.
  • Fast-tracked interns – Will commence work having completed a 4-week bootcamp including the attainment of a CompTIA Security + certification and the technical and soft skills to ensure they will hit the ground running.
  • Option to bring your own intern – You can upskill an existing employee through the BYO intern stream. We will work with you to configure the pilot to your business needs.
  • Ongoing training – We will continue to upskill the interns while they work for you. Interns will complete 4 micro-credentials to rapidly deliver the skills needed for a cyber analyst role. There is no cost to employers for the training and education delivered through the pilot.
  • Ongoing Support - A Training Manager and Program Manager will provide ongoing support to employers and interns throughout the pilot.

What is your commitment?

  • Employ an intern on a fixed-term contract from 24 April to 15 December 2023 (after they complete the 4 week bootcamp fulltime commencing 20 March 2023).
Contractual arrangements to be negotiated directly between the intern and the employer via an employer contract.
  • Release the intern to undertake formal studies one day per week so they can complete the micro-credentials. During the pilot, interns will work in your business four days a week and go to training one day a week.
BYO intern stream will require employers to release the intern from work to attend the bootcamp.
  • Appoint a workplace mentor - All mentors will complete a half-day training workshop and be supported throughout the pilot. If you have more than one intern, you can use the same mentor.

Expressions of interest are welcomed from employers who have existing employees they want to enrol in the pilot (BYO intern) and employers who are interested in employing a pre-qualified intern (PAYG intern) through the pilot.
