Our History
Established in 2021 with an investment from the ACT Government, the Canberra Cyber Hub was created to position Canberra as Australia's cyber security capital. Led by Dr Michael Frater, former Rector of UNSW Canberra, the Hub was co-designed with industry to harness the region’s strengths in cyber expertise, education, and national security. Since its inception, the Hub has become a central force in accelerating Canberra’s cyber economy, supporting both start-ups and established businesses through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
Our Purpose
As the trusted heart of a highly collaborative cyber ecosystem, Canberra Cyber Hub is a not-for-profit, advancing the cyber security sector in Australia with a particular focus on the ACT. We achieve this through four pillars of work.
Our Four Pillars
Cyber Business - Access to customers, collaborators and investors for cyber businesses.
Big Challenges - Strategic influence and insight for the ecosystem on issues of importance to them.
Skills - Skilling the cyber ecosystem.
Business Cyber Safety- Cyber uplift for non-technical SMBs.
Canberra Cyber Hub brings together cyber business, education and training providers, government, and the skilled workforce to explore the latest challenges, research and pipeline opportunities in cyber.
Supported by the ACT Government, Canberra Cyber Hub hosts over 16 events throughout the year which showcase Canberra as the place to live and work in cyber security. As a non-member organisation, co-designed by industry, we are here to support the Canberra cyber ecosystem to grow and thrive.
