The Canberra Cyber Hub was officially launched last week by Minister Tara Cheyne, MLA . The launch event was a shining example of how the Canberra Cyber Hub is working to create a world class cyber ecosystem in Canberra.

The event was filled with representatives from Canberra's diverse cyber ecosystem and included 16 high intensity pitches from businesses who participated in the 2021/2022 Cyber Accelerator program.

Dr Michael Frater, Chair of the Canberra Cyber Hub, thanked the ecosystem for helping them shape its objectives through the co-design process.

"We're excited to launch the Canberra Cyber Hub, we know that the Canberra’s cyber security ecosystem is already one of our competitive advantages and we're dedicated to working with our world class industry to drive growth and capabilities in Canberra’s cyber security ecosystem.

"The Canberra Cyber Hub is here to support those who are interested in starting or developing a career in cyber security, developing cyber businesses capabilities, highlighting the incredible talent and innovative technologies here in Canberra and providing a platform where you can develop your cyber skills through education and training," said Dr Frater.

The event also marked the end of the first cohort of the Cyber Security Business Accelerator, funded by the ACT Government and delivered by the Canberra Innovation Network (CBRIN). CBRIN CEO, Petr Adamek, proudly welcomed the 16 participants, who took up the challenge of pitching their businesses in one minute.

"These companies have been on a journey and tonight marks the significance of their new beginning to find new customers, new partners and to grow their businesses, which grows the cyber security sector in Canberra.

"Canberra's one of the best places to have world-leading cyber security capability, so we're very excited that this has taken shape in the Cyber Hub. It's been a privilege to be a part of setting it up, and now we want to see many more companies like these come forward and build businesses that give jobs to Canberrans and create new values for the city," said Mr Adamek.

The launch event was held on Monday 21 February at the National Arboretum in Canberra.

The Canberra Cyber Hub will be launching a website to support the Canberra Cyber Hub's core objectives to grow Canberra’s cyber security workforce and education pathways, accelerate SMEs to grow connections and attract investment, showcase Canberra’s current cyber security capabilities and to promote the ACT’s research capabilities.
