Overview
Where opportunities in space, quantum and cyber take shape
Have you ever wondered what research, technology and services are really being developed in Canberra - or who may be able to help take yours forward? We have an event for you...
Ideas on Tap is a relaxed, cross‑sector pitching and networking event bringing together researchers, manufacturers and industry organisations working at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 2–5 across space, quantum and cyber. The event focuses on early‑to‑mid stage ideas with clear potential for collaboration, translation or commercial impact.
Designed as a fun and accessible way for the ecosystem to better understand the real academic and industry research and development work currently underway, Ideas on Tap uses short, informal lightning pitches and plenty of time to connect to help people discover who’s doing what, explore complementary ideas, and spark collaboration.
Facilitator
Dr Phil Dooley, Science writer, video maker, presenter and science communicator trainer
The focus is on conversation, curiosity and connection — creating an easy entry point for researchers, manufacturers and industry to connect with each other and identify opportunities to work together.

Call for Expressions of Interest – Pitching Opportunities:
Canberra Cyber Hub is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from researchers, manufacturers and industry organisations to pitch at Ideas on Tap - a relaxed, cross‑sector event focused on building partnerships and collaboration across space, quantum and cyber.
Ideas on Tap is a partnership‑focused pitching event. It is not a funding or investment pitch opportunity. However, pitches may include ideas that are seeking collaborators or partners for future grant applications, joint funding opportunities or new collaborations to enhance services/capabilities.
Selected organisations will be invited to deliver a short, 3‑minute lightning pitch, supported by a pitch preparation workshop with our facilitator, Dr Phil Dooley, to help participants clearly communicate their idea to a mixed research, industry and government audience.
We are specifically seeking EOIs from organisations operating at Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 2–5, including:
- Early‑stage research with a clear applied pathway
- Emerging technologies under development or validation
- Manufacturing or industry capabilities exploring new applications
- Ideas seeking collaboration, translation, co‑development or grant application partners
Fill in our EOI here
Note: if accepted as a pitcher, you can attend this event for free.
