The Connector: Canberra Cyber Hub’s New Engagement Manager. Meet Tanve Kaley.
With a deep background in business development and having lived in Canberra for over 20 years, Tanve brings a wealth of local knowledge and a passion for the city’s growth. Her role is to be the primary link between our ecosystem's needs and the vast opportunities available across government and industry.
She defines her role as being fundamentally about building bridges.
“As Engagement Manager at the Canberra Cyber Hub, my role is all about connection and visibility. I focus on raising awareness of what the Hub offers and helping SMEs get in front of the right people... so they can grow, gain experience, and contribute meaningfully to Canberra’s cyber ecosystem.”
This focus on strategic engagement isn't new for Tanve. In her previous role at the National Convention Centre - where she was named Employee of the Year, Tanve successfully secured some of the largest national conferences for the city.
“One of my proudest achievements was building long-term trust with clients, turning one off events into annual fixtures... That experience taught me the power of relationship-building and strategic engagement, skills I now bring to my role at the Canberra Cyber Hub.”
What drew Tanve to the Hub, was the chance to be an advocate for a rapidly growing and vital industry.
“I’ve enjoyed diving into conversations with SMEs, learning about the industry and the acronyms (haha), but also how we can better support growth and tackle the challenges they are facing.”
Perhaps most uniquely, Tanve brings the firsthand experience of a small business owner.
“Most people are surprised to learn that I currently run a small wedding planning business... Being a small business owner myself gives me a real appreciation for the challenges and triumphs that SMEs in the tech industry face. I understand what it means to build something from the ground up... That perspective helps me connect more authentically with the businesses we support.”
How to connect: The Engagement Manager is your first point of contact if you are looking for advice on growing your business, need help getting involved with the ecosystem, or want to explore event sponsorship and collaboration opportunities.

The Storyteller: Canberra Cyber Hub's New Content Creator. Meet Nick Apalis.
Tasked with amplifying the voices and victories of the ecosystem is the new Content Creator, Nick. A passionate storyteller, he is currently studying a Science PhB at the ANU, bringing relentless curiosity to the Hub. His role is to manage the social media, newsletters, and articles, transforming news and technical information into stories for the wider audience and helping companies promote fascinating events and initiatives.
He sees his mission as bridging a critical gap in understanding.
“I am very passionate about science and technology and turning technical information into stories for the wider population. I am astounded by the discrepancy of how much I thought I knew of these sectors, and how much it turned out I actually understood... I aspire to bridge that gap between the wider public, our Canberra community and the technical sectors.”
Nick’s passion for making complex topics accessible was honed in a previous role at Abilities Unlimited Australia, where Nick learned how to build a voice for a vital community cause, helping the organisation gain national and industry recognition.
Now, Nick channels part of his energy into showcasing the human side of technology.
“Every technical endeavour has a non-technical aspect, which pertains to many more individuals than it may seem. The opportunities, research and progress are as relevant to every non-technical professional, as it is to a technical engineer.”
Nick sees every day at the Hub is a new opportunity to learn and connect.
“I absolutely love how no day is the same in my role at the Hub. I get to connect with new organisations and fascinating people every day, while learning new things and hearing exhilarating stories every time I start work. The people in our ecosystem and the office are the most lovely and supportive people one can meet.”
How to connect: Reach out to Nick for correspondence, to pitch an article idea, contribute to thought leadership, or get a platform to speak on areas of passion and innovation. Please note that he works part-time, so responses may be slightly delayed.
